I am a fan of KnollTextiles but tend to stick with their Solids & Textures, especially for large upholstered pieces. But when I saw this Honour cotton velvet, I knew I had to have it. I love the modern patchwork and the combination of colors – purple, yellow, red, some olive and blue.
Custom ottomans are the perfect way to incorporate a unique fabric into your home. Notice the care the upholsterer took to line up top seams with the patchwork squares. According to the KnollTextiles website – knoll.com – Honour is inspired by Dutch graphic artist and bookmaker Irma Boom’s work. If you are interested, you can see her incredible work on YouTube.
New home for the ottomans
When I first designed the ottomans for my own family, they were in our home in Newton. The color scheme was grays and pale blues. The ottomans worked as footrests and seating with the Plano sectional by Eilersen from Lekker.
Now the ottomans have a new home on Cape Cod. Luckily the purple patch in the ottomans work perfectly with the new Knoll Womb Chair in Black Iris, also from Lekker Home. When you invest in quality fabrics and furnishings, you can repurpose these pieces over and over as you move to different homes. In fact, the Plano sectional has also been relocated to Cape Cod.
