Zesty Orange Mid-Century Kitchen

New orange laminate, heated tile flooring, and iconic ceramic glazed tiles harken back to the mid-century roots of this home. An improved layout, butcher block and Cesarstone surfaces, a Galley Workstation sink set in stainless steel, and a BlueStar range make this modern kitchen a standout. While within the same footprint, the kitchen looks completely different and functions much better than the old layout from the last remodel in the 1980s.

Defined areas for prep, cooking, and clean-up are designed for multiple family members to handle tasks in the kitchen simultaneously. A randomized pattern of Heath dual-glazed ceramic tiles is used as the backsplash. Heath is an iconic mid-century brand from California. A Zephr Trapeze hood hangs above the BlueStar range. A lower seating area for six, with a cantilevered white oak surface and walnut veneer base, connects to the custom island. Two orange-hued laminates brighten the island cabinet sliding doors and complement the orange knobs of the BlueStar range (and the home’s front door). The custom walnut and oak cabinetry provide storage, bar area, and pivoting doors that fold away. Unique lighting includes the Sonneman Thin-line LED Bar fixture above the sink and the Flos String Cone Pendants above the island.
